What’s published

Schematics published

Kit's core module (RAK4631) and base boards (RAK19003/RAK19007/RAK19001) each have a RAKwireless docs page with circuit-level schematic diagrams and 3D STEP files; no KiCad/Gerber source is published.

Research notes

RAKwireless publishes a schematic diagram (as an embedded PNG, plus a power/interconnect breakdown) and mechanical 3D STEP files per module on docs.rakwireless.com, but no downloadable KiCad/Eagle/Gerber source was found (RAK4631 datasheet page explicitly states 'No downloads' for design source). Optional RAK1921 OLED accessory not independently verified. nordicsemi.com was unreachable from this environment (403 on all paths tried); Mouser cited as verified alternate for the MCU.

Power by base board

9
RAK19003 battery
3.7–4.2 V rechargeable LiPo; JST PHR-2, 2 mm female cable housing
RAK19003 solar
5 V only; JST ZHR-2, 1.5 mm female cable housing
RAK19007 battery
3.7–4.2 V rechargeable LiPo; JST PHR-2, 2 mm female cable housing
RAK19007 solar
5 V panel only; match marked polarity, with GND toward the board edge
RAK19001 rechargeable input
3.7–4.2 V LiPo; JST PHR-2, 2 mm female cable housing
RAK19001 non-rechargeable input
Separate 3.3–5.5 V connector; battery selector also disconnects power
RAK19001 solar
5 V only; JST ZHR-2, 1.5 mm female cable housing
Polarity check
RAK19003 battery/solar ground is toward the board edge; match wiring before connection
Charger type
Maker describes TP4054 linear charging without MPPT

Assembly and firmware

9
Supplied assembly
RAK4631 is installed on the selected base; Meshtastic is preflashed
Module fastening
Secure fitted modules with M1.2 × 3 mm screws; remove screws before detaching
Before powering
Attach LoRa and BLE antennas to their labeled connections
First configuration
Use a Meshtastic Apple/Android app, web client or CLI to configure the node
Upstream build target
rak4631 at the pinned Meshtastic commit
Base selection in firmware
Maker guide uses the stock RAK4631 UF2 with automatic base detection
USB firmware upload
Use a USB data cable, double-click reset, then copy the matching UF2 to the mounted drive
RAK4631-R distinction
Same hardware, different RUI3 firmware/bootloader path; conversion may be needed before Meshtastic UF2 flashing
Development options
RAK4631 supports Arduino IDE and PlatformIO; base provides power/programming interfaces

Package and accessory limits

4
Included
Selected base/core, 2 dBi LoRa antenna and pigtail, PCB LoRa/BLE antennas, USB cable
Additional power parts
Li-ion/LiPo battery and solar panel are optional
Separate alternative cores
RAK11200/RAK11310 require separate ordering/flashing; RAK11200 also needs RAK13300 LoRa hardware
Enclosure
Unify case sold separately
What still needs checking
  • Match radio/antenna band, base and accessory bundle. Do not infer module support solely from a free mechanical slot; verify the exact firmware and module combination.
  • Store/guide disagree on SMA versus RP-SMA wording for the antenna pigtail. Confirm the actual connector before buying adapters.
  • The starter guide links an older RAK12500 GNSS page; current store options name RAK12501. Do not silently substitute them.
  • RAK14000 e-paper requires a separate firmware selection. The maker guide’s old rak4631_eink filename is not a verified current release target.
  • Battery, solar panel and enclosure are not universal kit inclusions. Match connector housing and polarity to the selected base; RAK19001 has distinct rechargeable/non-rechargeable inputs.
  • No battery-life, antenna-range, price or stock claim was independently measured or refreshed.
