Radio equipment needs certification where you live (FCC, CE, UKCA, ISED, Anatel). Some devices are uncertified or restricted in Brazil. Buyers are responsible for their local law.

Bring along
Matching radio band and firmware for your project.
Keep in mind
GPS occupies the Grove connector; GNSS and firmware options vary.

Research notes

All files verified live in Xinyuan-LilyGO/T-Deck (master branch) and on wiki.lilygo.cc, matching the batch's known_links. Pin definitions for the ST7789 display/radio are in the repo's examples/UnitTest/utilities.h (referenced in batch known_links) rather than as a standalone document.

Software & technical files

6
Hardware source
LILYGO publishes board examples, schematics and keyboard firmware.
Arduino configuration
ESP32S3 Dev Module; 16 MB flash; OPI PSRAM
USB recovery
Hold the trackball’s center button while connecting USB; reset after uploading.
Keyboard firmware
Separate ESP32-C3; programming requires an external USB-to-UART adapter and the six-pin header.
Microphone caveat
Maker examples reserve the GPIO0 button when the microphone is enabled.
Display/library matching
Use the repository’s ST7789 initialization and bundled library versions when debugging display faults.

Build connections

8
Grove limitation
GPS occupies the Grove signals; this connector is unavailable for general expansion.
Power enable
Drive GPIO10 high for battery-powered operation.
Shared SPI
Display, microSD and LoRa share SPI. Keep inactive devices’ chip-select lines high.
SPI pins
SCK 40; MOSI 41; MISO 38. Chip selects: display 12, microSD 39, radio 9.
Radio control pins
BUSY 13; reset 17; DIO1 45
I²C pins
SDA 18; SCL 8; keyboard interrupt 46
GPS UART
Maker GPS example uses TX 43 / RX 44 and detects L76K or u-blox settings.
Audio pins
Speaker WS 5 / BCK 7 / data 6; microphone MCLK 48 / LRCK 21 / SCK 47 / data 14.
What still needs checking
  • Exact box contents depend on the antenna and firmware SKU; the maker illustrates the package rather than listing every item in text.
  • The quick-start GPS snippet uses RX21/TX48, while the repository GPS example and factory pin definitions use RX44/TX43. The pin row follows the repository; confirm against the board revision.
  • The wiki gives 100 × 68 × 11 mm without clearly distinguishing the board from the assembled enclosure. Finished-device dimensions and weight remain unconfirmed.
